Singapore named best city in Asia for expats

Singapore has been rated as the most ideal Asian metro for expatriates wanting to transfer for work or studying, according to a report released by Preply, a web-based language learning platform.

Singapore came out on top amongst Asian cities attracting professional emigrant employees, with a consolidated foreigner transfer rating of 7.2 out of 10, based upon Preply’s analysis.

According to Preply, Singapore’s high common monthly salary for expats, somewhat lower tax obligation prices, safety and security and tidiness allowed it obtain the leading place in Asia.

Nevertheless, on the global stage, the city of Tallinn in Estonia took the major overall ranking with a score of 7.35. It was followed by the city of Bern in Switzerland which clinched a score of 7.32, and then Singapore.

Amongst the Asian metros ranked by Preply, coming 2nd at 6.96 is Bangkok in Thailand, followed by Dubai in the United Arab Emirates with a rating of 6.81, and Penang in Malaysia with a score of 6.72.

The report also identified that leasing a common one-bedroom unit in Ang Mo Kio offered optimal rental price for most foreigners in Singapore, with a common month-to-month rental payment of $1,268. Other affordable areas in Singapore for foreigners include Sembawang, Yishun and Punggol.

The study assesses key global cities based on relocation metrics such as month to month expense of living as an expat, average monthly income, approximated tax obligation, security ratings, tidiness, and how many hrs it would need to study the dominant language.
